A grizzly bear attacked his trainer to death after a “basic routine” went terribly wrong, according to shocking footage.

As startled spectators raced to his help, Stephen Miller passed dead minutes after the massive beast known as Rocky ripped off his neck.

The couple squared off as they attempted to shoot a commercial for a fake wrestling battle in the footage, which has resurfaced on the 14th anniversary of the attack.

Rocky was a trained animal that had previously featured on cinema as “Dewey the Killer Bear” in Will Ferrell’s film Semi-Pro just a few weeks before.

However, during the staging of the assault, the massive beast grew confused and bit Stephen in the neck, pinning him to the ground.

Randy Miller, his cousin, arrived on the scene fast and whacked Rocky with a cane while his colleagues drenched him with pepper spray.

Stephen then limped to his feet and stumbled away from the camera, only to succumb to a perforated jugular vein and artery minutes later.

Randy described himself as “overwhelmed with sadness” following the occurrence as he came to grips with the devastating loss.

“It’s… taking its toll on me.” Randy Miller, who was crying at the moment, remarked, “We were brothers.”

“It all occurred so quickly.” We tried all we could to stop the bear. It just took a few seconds to dislodge him, but it was too late.”

Despite the heinous act, Randy described Rocky as a “kind, affectionate, friendly, and safe bear” as an official investigation into the crime was initiated.

Rocky was spared euthanasia and was allowed to retire to a zoo, according to animal rights groups.

Miller’s death was ruled an accident by the California Department of Fish and Game since the bear’s life was saved.

Rocky was sentenced to spend the remainder of his days in solitary confinement, as he was no longer allowed to interact with anybody other than his trainers.

The Sun has reported on some of the world’s most heinous bear assaults, highlighting the adorable monsters’ terrible reality.

While human assaults are uncommon, they may be exceptionally savage, with large creatures capable of smashing skulls, pulping faces, and skinning their victims alive.
