US Election 2020: Nail-biting race continues as initial results appear

Race for the victory continues as results of the Electoral College of America have begun appearing. 

Both Joe Biden and Donald Trump need 270 votes to become the next US president.

Initial results

As per the initial results, Democrat Joe Biden’s Electoral Vote is 225 whereas Republican Trump’s votes are 213 so far.

CNN reported that Biden’s victory in Illinois won 20 electoral votes.

On the contrary, Trump also managed to get 6 votes from the state of Ottawa

Donald Trump is leading the votes in Florida with almost all votes counted.

But states such as Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina are toss-ups.

More than 100 million people cast their ballots in early voting before election day on Tuesday – setting the US on course for its highest turnout in a century.

About vote for Senate

Republicans have lost a Senate seat in Colorado, but they have gained one in Alabama.

As per the details, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate leader, and Trump ally Lindsey Graham have both been re-elected.

The House of Representatives is likely to be led by Democrats this time.

Initial Presidential results so far

As per the partial result, the battlegrounds in the Midwest and Rust Belt of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio look as though they could go either way in the White House race.

Mr. Biden has a solid lead in Arizona. But Trump is leading votes in Texas.

Both Florida and Pennsylvania are considered must-wins for Mr. Trump if he is to be re-elected to a second term in office.
