An old video of a football fan building a paper aeroplane and flying it during a game in a crowded stadium has reappeared on the internet.

One bored fan constructed a paper aeroplane out of his match ticket during a UEFA Nations League match between Germany and England at Munich’s Allianz Arena in June of this year. From his high-up seat in the stadium, the fan fired the plane at the players on the field.

The paper aeroplane “takes off” with surprising speed in the popular video as soon as the fan launches it. It flies towards the players and hovers in the air for about 25 seconds before slipping past keeper Jordan Pickford and into the England net. The “goal” was wildly applauded throughout the stadium, with many saying that the trick was good enough for a Guinness World Record for the most distance travelled by a paper aeroplane.

Videos of the paper aeroplane landing on the net quickly filled social media.

“Incredible goal,” one individual said on Twitter. Some even commented that it was the high point of an otherwise dull game.

The game finished in a 1-1 draw, with Jonas Hofmann giving Germany the lead in the 50th minute until a late Harry Kane penalty levelled the scores.
