Weather outlook of Lahore, Punjab; wet spell to continue

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts more rain and possible hailstorms for Lahore and parts of Punjab on Monday evening/night and Tuesday.

A westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of Pakistan, expected to strengthen in the next 12 hours. This weather pattern will bring intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms to various areas, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, and more on Monday evening/night. Moderate to heavy rainfall and isolated hailstorms are anticipated in some places. Additionally, areas like Murree, Galyat, and surroundings may experience heavy rain, wind, thunderstorms, and even snowfall or hailstorm.

Tuesday is expected to see continued rain, wind, and thunderstorms in several regions, including Lahore, with possible hailstorms in isolated places. Murree, Galyat, and nearby areas may witness further rain, wind, thunderstorms, and the likelihood of snowfall or hailstorm.

The heavy rain and snowfall might lead to road closures in Murree and Galyat from Monday to Tuesday, with potential landslides during this period.

In terms of temperatures, Lahore is expected to have minimum temperatures ranging between 11-13 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 10-12 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Parts of Punjab have already experienced rainfall in the last 24 hours, with Murree receiving 30mm of rain. Other areas like Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Mangla, and Jhelum also reported varying intensities of rainfall. Murree recorded the lowest temperature in the country, dropping 1 degree Celsius below freezing. Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 66% in the morning.
