More rain, hailstorm expected in Lahore, parts of Punjab

Weather Update; Rain Expected in Islamabad, Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted more rain, wind, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms in Lahore and parts of Punjab from Monday evening to Tuesday.

According to the current weather situation, there is a strong westerly wave over the upper regions of Pakistan, expected to continue for the next 24 to 36 hours.

Due to these conditions, we can expect more rain, wind, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms in various areas including Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, and Noor Purr Thal on Monday night and Tuesday. Landslides may occur in Murree and Galyat due to heavy rainfall, and gusty winds are expected in other areas of the province. Windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning may pose risks to people, crops, and structures like electric poles and solar panels.

Lahore’s temperatures are expected to range from 37-39 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Additionally, rain, wind, and thunderstorms were reported in Lahore and parts of Punjab over the past 24 hours. Some areas in the Potohar region, Islamabad, Murree, and Galyat experienced hailstorms.

Here are the rainfall amounts in millimeters: Jhelum 38, Murree 31, Mandi Bahauddin, Mangla 26, Gujranwala 20, Sialkot (Airport 12, City 04), Attock 08, Chakwal 06, Joharabad 05, Islamabad (Airport 03, Zero Point 02, Bokra, Golra 01), Rawalpindi (Kacheri 03, Chaklala 02, Shamsabad 02), Hafizabad 02, Sheikhupura, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, Narowal 01.

Sahiwal and Bahawalpur recorded the highest temperatures in the province at 36 C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature reached 35 C, with a relative humidity of 69 percent in the evening.
