Heavy Rainfall predicted in Pakistan until April 29
According to a warning issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)...
Pakistan is likely to experience normal rainfall and warmer temperatures in May 2024. The Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts that the neutral El Niño Southern Oscillation phase will continue. While most of the country will see near-normal rainfall, some areas like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northern Balochistan, northern Punjab, and Kashmir may get slightly above-normal rainfall.
Temperatures are expected to be slightly higher than normal in northern and southern regions, while central areas may have normal to slightly below normal temperatures. Nights will be warmer than usual, especially in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
These conditions could benefit agriculture but may also bring risks like hailstorms and dust storms, mainly in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Photohar region, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Heatwaves are possible in southern areas, while higher temperatures in high-altitude regions could speed up snow melting, which can be good for irrigation and power generation.
