A helicopter crashed into a field in North Yorkshire, killing two people, with those in the area being warned to keep away ‘strongly.’

The incident occurred near Rivers Edge Holiday Home & Lodge Park, and police responded quickly.

The cause is yet unknown, however police said this afternoon that two people had died and that their families were being helped.

The plane crashed off Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale shortly before midday.

‘A complete investigation into the cause of a helicopter crash in Ingleton is underway,’ North Yorkshire Police stated.

‘The crash resulted in the deaths of two people. Specially trained officers are assisting their relatives.

‘There is a complete road closure between the A65 and Bentham Moor Road.’ People are being urged to stay away from the area. We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the residents in the area.’

Yorkshire Ambulance Service rushed ‘a number of resources’ to the scene, according to a spokesperson.

‘Emergency services are on the scene after a helicopter crash into a field off Bentham Road near Burton in Lonsdale,’ according to a statement.

North Yorkshire fire services have been approached for more information.
