A Seychelles pensioner fears a British lawyer has died after disappearing while walking through the jungle.

While on vacation to celebrate his retirement, 57-year-old Peter Clement was last seen alone on the 12-mile Grande Barbe Trail on Silhouette Island on May 15. Searches for helicopters, boats and drones found no traces of previous cameras in two Harcourt buildings in London. According to one theory, navigating the mountainous islands can be difficult if the weather is bad. 2 Harcourt Buildings said in a statement on its website: “We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our beloved friend, colleague and former Chamberlain Peter Clement. He recently retired after more than 30 years of experience at Building 2 Harkort and a remarkable career in criminal law.

“Before entering the chamber, he was the Chief Justice of the Army and served in Northern Ireland. He was loved and respected not only by many of his friends in prison, but also by all in his ward. She will miss him. ”

The local newspaper Le Seychellois reported that the weather was so bad during the search that it was unlikely that Clement had been found alive. According to police, all his personal belongings and travel documents were found intact in his hotel room, according to weekly reports.

He also said that the unusually bad weather by the police had diminished the British’s hopes of surviving. A State Department spokeswoman confirmed that the department had been in contact with local authorities to help the family of a missing British person in Seychelles.

Pump Court Chambers lawyer Matthew Scott paid tribute to Clement as one of the few in the industry, describing Clement as “a great lawyer and someone I couldn’t hate.” Journalist and co-author Clement Robert Verkaike said: “She is a unique, fun person, an assertive minor student. His entire career has been a tribute to his work and intelligence. “
