Bloomberg reporter Hayes Pan has been released on bail after being detained in China for more than a year.

The agency said they had received a release notice from the Chinese embassy in the United States, but no contact was made. Pan, a Chinese citizen, was last seen in December 2020, when plainclothes security agents abducted her from her apartment.

He is one of those journalists arrested or deported from Chinese government. He was officially arrested in July 2021 on charges of committing a crime that threatens national security.

At the time of the arrest, China warned against the interference, saying the incident was an “internal matter”. China’s Foreign Ministry has not commented on his release.
