The husband of a guy who was brutally attacked by a group of teenagers and nearly killed says all she wants to hear him say is “I love you.”

Alan Willson, 47, was struck with a wooden log in Worthing, West Sussex, and as a result sustained severe and permanently altering brain injuries.

He had hurried to the 11-year-old boy’s side after the gang had targeted him.

After the Easter Sunday attack last year, Mr. Willson is still unable to walk or communicate and has “no mental capacity.”

As the ailing couple was sentenced to 12 years in prison each, The Sun was able to successfully challenge an order of anonymity and today can expose the identities of two of the criminals involved.

At a prior court appearance, Archie and George Tilley were observed grinning while raising their middle fingers. When one of the boys was found guilty, he even grinned.

Annie Willson, Mr. Willson’s wife, described her shock upon finding him lying injured.

‘Babe, babe, where are you?’ I yelled.

Are you looking for the man, a boy who approached me asked. and I concurred.

He claimed to be there. Do you know who had any involvement with

“I then noticed Alan’s feet on the ground, where he was lying still in a puddle of blood that resembled jam and was gushing out of his ears. A stick was lying beneath him.

He was making this terrible noise, which I’ll never forget. He gurgled as though he were drowning in his own blood.

“His jacket was fastened up to his Adam’s apple, so I bent down to unhook it while yelling, “Babe, babe.

“A dog walker instructed me not to move him while she was on the phone with 999.

“My son Robbie and his friend came over after hearing my screaming. We simply went cold.

Around 7.30 p.m. on April 4, Mr. Willson was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, and his wife hurried to be there.

She stated she was given a brief window of time to say farewell while sitting next to her husband and comforting him as he sobbed.

You have three minutes to talk to him, they stated. He needs to have surgery right away or he will die, she said.

DEVASTATION OF A WIFE
“I entered and asked if I may touch him. I kissed him and told him, “Do what you have to do.”

The injuries Mr. Willson sustained were “non survivable,” doctors cautioned.

“The doctors brought me into a side room after I visited Alan in the intensive care unit and informed me that Alan’s injuries were irreversible. You must organise a funeral.

“It’s terrible to organise a funeral for someone who is still living. I had to get in touch with his friend and ask him to carry the casket.

He suffered four brain injuries, broken posterior and anterior ribs, three spine fractures, a fractured face, fractured orbital bone, fractured jaw, and countless other traumas that I can’t even recall, according to Mrs. Willson.

Mr. Willson survived his operations. However, his life had been irrevocably altered.

His wife said today: “Alan and I used to have morbid chats since we are both caregivers, and he once told me: ‘If I have to depend on anyone, I don’t want to live.’ That is not living.

“You can tell he wants to say something, but is unable to, making him the world’s most frustrated guy right now.

“You have to speculate as to what he desires; occasionally, your guesses are accurate. Heartbreaking, that.

Alan, an avid Arsenal supporter, had previously gone skiing with friends.

Annie murmured, holding Alan’s hand and fighting back tears, “I miss his voice. Simply saying, “All right, darling,” would be enough for me. I cherish you. What about the kids?

“He used to sing Mika’s Grace Kelly to lift my spirits when I was down.

He was a fun person and quite effervescent. He is unlike anyone I’ve ever met. Despite my prior marriages, Alan is the one.

Mr. Willson started crying as she was speaking.

The courageous couple agreed to the interview on the day that Archie Tilley, 16, and George Tilley, 14, who were convicted of GBH with intent, were sentenced.

Harry Furlong, 18, of Horsham, West Sussex, who was convicted of GBH without intent, joined the two of them in the dock.

He received a 20-month sentence, with the remaining 10 months served on probation.

Previous testimony at Lewes Crown Court described how one of the teenagers, who were then 13, 14, and 17, shoved Alan over after a dispute over a frisbee.

Then, he was “whacked” with a 3 foot log, breaking his ribs with a “loud crack.”

Less than an hour later, the trio were recorded on CCTV at a railway station acting out the brutal beating in an effort to attract girls.

The attackers were described as “fake thumping the air” and giggling “please stop” by a teen who talked to them.

The extent of Mr. Willson’s injuries prevented responders from identifying him as an adult.

The attack initially “sounded like someone getting beaten up or wounded,” a dog walker told police, before “sounding like someone being murdered.”

“Because of your actions, my husband cannot speak, play with his children, work, or manage his body,” Mrs. Willson told the attackers in court.

He lacks mental capacity, his left eye is blind, and he had a severe brain injury from which he will never fully recover.

He struggles with his hearing, his teeth, and his ability to take care of his personal hygiene.

“He’s not the same guy anymore. He is imprisoned in this foreign body, which he does not comprehend.

The mentality of these lads, especially the younger ones, strikes me, Mrs. Willson continued today.

“As far as we know, Harry only partially revealed the truth. The other two might go bad. They had murder in mind.

“They have a severe medical problem. Society is broken in some way.
