Attorney General Merrick B. Garland stated, “The Justice Department is commits to doing everything in our ability to combat the pernicious crimes of human trafficking that harm survivors and their families. “I am grateful to the dedicated professionals at the FBI and our law enforcement partners across the nation for their tireless work to rescue trafficking victims, including children who have been exploited, to look into and bring trafficking offenders to justice, and to provide the services and support that survivors need and deserve.”

As part of the operation, the FBI and its collaborators also freed 141 adult victims of trafficking.

According to FBI Director Christopher Wray, one of the most terrible crimes the agency deals with is human trafficking.

“Unfortunately, more people are unaware of how frequently such crimes—against both adults and children—occur. The FBI and our partners will keep tracking down and apprehending traffickers, identifying and aiding victims, and raising awareness of the exploitation of our most vulnerable people, as we did in this operation.

Over the course of the two weeks, the FBI and its collaborators worked with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to undertake 391 operations.

“Operation Cross County’s success confirms what NCMEC observes every day. Traffickers, gangs, and even family members are buying and selling children for sex in neighbourhoods all around the nation, according to Michelle DeLaune.

The FBI’s efforts to put children’s safety first are supported by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s president and CEO, who says, “We’re proud to do so. This nationwide effort serves as a reminder to all child-serving professionals of the importance of maintaining a focus on children’s and youth’s wellness in order to keep them from becoming targets in the first place.

In order to guarantee that victims obtain all available assistance, such as crisis intervention, emergency food and clothes, transportation to receive emergency services, and locating shelter or lodging, the DOJ claims personnel are in place to act as a “bridge” for victims.
