There has been an attack at the Shah Cheragh mausoleum in the city of Shiraz, which has resulted in at least 15 deaths and 10 injuries, according to reports from Iranian official media.
The Irna news agency reported that three armed men entered the shrine at 17:45 (14:15 GMT) and started fire on the worshippers inside.
It was also stated that police special forces had apprehended two of the assailants, and that they were continuing their search for the third suspect.
Officials were quoted as claiming that the suspects behaved “like takfiri terrorists,” which is an allusion to Sunni Muslim extremists.
Irna published images that showed broken glass, prayer beads, and blood on the floor of the tomb where the attack took place.
The mausoleum is home to the remains of two sons of the seventh Shia Imam, Musa al-Kadhim. These individuals are also the brothers of the eighth Imam, Ali al-Rida.
