Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, told the news that Western allies need to “boost up” the quantity of military aid and supplies going to Ukraine.

According to von der Leyen, Ukraine needs “all the military hardware” that “it can manage, even the most cutting-edge technologies.”

She went on to say, “I hope very much that [in] Ramstein… that there will be a huge move ahead,” in reference to a conference that will take place at Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Friday between allies and Ukrainian defense officials as part of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

Germany has recently come under fire for the amount of military aid it is providing to the country that is racked by conflict. The UK has urged Berlin to supply Leopard tanks produced in Germany and to give countries permission to do the same.

Von von Leyen also declared that Russia will soon be the target of a further wave of sanctions.

The tenth round, according to her, “will mostly be focused on closing these loopholes, on concluding with these circumventions, and on having significant consequences for those who circumvent the penalties of the European Union.”
