The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in favor to appoint a foreign coach for the national squad. The board is currently trying to make England’s Peter Moore take the role of the head coach.
On the other hand, after Waqar Younis step down from the position of the bowling coach, former all-rounder Azhar Mahmood is in line to succeed Waqar.
Misbah and Waqar stepped down from the coaching positions after they had an argument with the PCB official on the matter of the team selection.
Azhar is currently the head bowling coach of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions Multan Sultans.
With the series against New Zealand just right the corner, the PCB has appointed Saqlan Mushtaq and Abdur Razzaq as the interim coaches for the series. The board will be announcing the team management for the ICC T20 World Cup in the coming weeks.
It is to be noted that Pakistan will play three ODIs and five T20Is against New Zealand from September 17 to October 3.
Sources claim that the coaching staff at the National High Performance Centre (NHPC), as well as the selection committee chaired by Mohammad Wasim, could undergo changes in the near future.
Former captain Ramiz Raja will be elected as the new chairman of the PCB on September 13, and he is in favor of bringing his own team management. This is the main reason behind the fuss created in the country’s cricketing setup.
