Google has established company in Pakistan

• Google has registered as a company with Pakistan’s SEC.
• TikTok’s office will soon be set up in Pakistan.
• Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto visited Meta in Singapore.

American tech giant Google has registered as a company with Pakistan’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SECP), According to official records.

The tech giant has registered itself with the SECP since social media businesses were required to establish offices in the nation under the “Removal and Blocking of Unlawful Online Content (Procedure, Oversight and Safeguards) Rules, 2021.”.

Syed Aminul Haque, the Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications told Media that after the American multinational technology company is registered in Pakistan, other social media platforms will also set up offices there.

“TikTok’s office will soon be set up in Pakistan. Companies are still hesitant because they don’t trust the government and its policies are all over the place,” he said, adding that his ministry will give full support to foreign companies.

As part of its social media rules, Pakistan’s government has made it a must for companies to register, so Google did so as a company.

If Google’s server is built in Pakistan, data will be safe. Even now, all businesses, including social media, store their data outside of Pakistan.

Bilawal Bhutto visits Meta in Singapore

Earlier today, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari went to Singapore to visit the Asia-Pacific headquarters of Meta, the company that owns Facebook.

During his visit, Bilawal talked about how far Pakistan’s IT sector has come and how much more it can do. He said that he really wanted the social media giant and Pakistan to work together more.
