Scarlett Johansson and Disney settle ‘Black Widow’ release dispute
Scarlett Johansson and Walt Disney Company have finally resolved their legal dispute...
Marvel defrauded Yelena Belova’s creator in order to transform her into Black Widow, media reported. The hybrid release of 2021, starring Scarlett Johansson, sparked controversy. The actress had filed a lawsuit against Disney for breach of contract after the company made the film available on its Disney+ streaming service while it was still in theatres, media reported.
Both parties eventually settled the dispute. Now, there’s another issue with Yelena’s creator’s remuneration. Devin Grayson and J.G. Jones developed him in 1999.
Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova was featured in Black Widow. According to the media, Grayson made $5,000 despite the studio’s multimillion-dollar franchise. She and Jones thought they’d get $55,000 after signing a contract.
Yelena Belova’s creators’ pay was cut without explanation. Marvel undermines the company’s foundation. VFX artists recently criticized the studios. People say it’s tough to work as a VFX artist at Marvel with back-to-back deadlines.
Fans have noted subpar visual effects in some MCU Phase 4 movies, just like the team. They criticized the franchise for prioritizing quantity over quality when it released fresh content.
Despite the criticism and other problems, the movies continue to do well. Yelena Belova participated in three episodes of Hawkeye for $300 per episode.
