Fear not if, like some of us here, you have significant FOMO about missing out on the Comic-Con Experience 2022 (CCXP).

As representative at the expo, Steve Weintraub has captured a tonne of intriguing images from the booths that have been set up on the floor.

One such location is the sizable Netflix installation, which features several of the streaming service’s cherished and award-winning episodes, from the sci-fi smash of the 1980s Stranger Things to the Arcane, which was inspired by League of Legends.

Since 2014, the So Paulo convention centre in Brazil has hosted the majority of CCXP events. Similar to the renowned event hosted yearly in San Diego, California, the expo serves as a venue for thousands of pop culture enthusiasts to congregate alongside content producers and other content consumers.

Every year, CCXP offers fresh content and previews upcoming movies, TV shows, and other products from well-known studios like Netflix, Disney, DC, Paramount, and a great many others.

This year, we arrived early to explore everything the main floor has to offer before the panels, which took place from December 1–4, began.

Netflix’s setup, which sprawled across the room with several monitors for a number of their hit shows, as is their wont, impressed.

Despite having numerous rivals, the streamer, which recently marked its 25th anniversary, continues to hold The Crown (get it?) of streaming services when it comes to subscribers, with almost 225 million worldwide.

This reality is largely attributable to the high-caliber series they continue to release annually with devoted fan groups.

Below are the TV shows Netflix will be promoting during this year’s CCXP:

Stranger Things:

The sci-fi adventure series Stranger Things, which was created by Matt and Ross Duffer, also known as the Duffer Brothers, debuted in 2016 and followed a group of friends in the fictional tiny town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s.

Similar to the friends-on-bikes tales of the 1980s, the timid Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and his devoted D&D-loving group immediately won over the hearts of the public.

Fans have experienced the mystifyingly dangerous Upside Down over the course of 4 seasons and have met a variety of evil antagonists.

The series, along with the ensemble cast of adored characters, swiftly became Netflix’s most-watched series as the fifth and final season approached (recently dethroned by their latest Tim Burton-directed Wednesday).

Arcane:

The animated Arcane series from 2021, another Emmy Award-winning Netflix programme, is also on display at CCXP.

Although it took a decade of TLC to build, the critically acclaimed programme, League of Legends, which is based on the well-known MOBA, demonstrates that video games can be a rich source for on-screen adaptations.

Arcane, from artists Christian Linke and Alex Yee, focuses on the downtrodden undercity neighbourhood of Zaun and the utopian territory of Piltover.

The birth tale of League champions and sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell) in the series mirrors the power battle between the two cities, and the programme follows the power that shatters their relationship.

The outstanding exhibit at CCXP may portend good news for fans of Netflix’s crime drama Lupin Part 3, whose third instalment has been in production for a year now since it was first revealed.

Lupin:

The television series Lupin, created by George Kay, is based on the writings of the early 1900s fictitious thief Arsène Lupin and chronicles the continued exploits of Assane Diop, a professional burglar, who is portrayed by Omar Sy.

The Senegalese immigrant who sends his lone son to France in pursuit of a better life for Assane is Assane. After being falsely accused of a crime, Assane’s father commits suicide, and Assane dedicates the rest of his life to learning the skills required to carry out his father’s assassination.

The Sandman:

The Sandman, a Netflix adaptation of the same-named Neil Gaiman comic book series, received a phenomenal response and was swiftly given a second season.

The Sandman is a gritty story about Morpheus, a ruler of the Dreaming world who is portrayed by Tom Sturridge. Similar to the comics, the show follows Morpheus’ quest to retrieve significant relics in order to redeem The Dreaming realm following his century-long imprisonment.

Squid Game:

It’s hardly surprising that Squid Game, directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, will appear at CCXP this year given the announcement of its spinoff series Squid Game: The Challenge and the show’s enormous viewer reception in 2021. Even interactive tasks for Comic-Con goers are included in the show.

In the gripping Korean drama series Squid Game, starring Lee Jung-jae, hundreds of residents who are struggling financially are invited to take part in an enigmatic game. Simple competition in a variety of well-liked kid’s games is required to win a significant number of money. The sole caveat? You die if you lose.

Heartstopper:

Heartstopper, a touching series from showrunner and creator Alice Oseman, has also been renewed for a Season 2, which has started shooting.

Heartstopper, which is based on Oseman’s webcomic and graphic novel of the same name, has charmed viewers with its tender coming-of-age love story that follows pals Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson’s skipping heartbeats (Kit Connor). The show is a sweet LGBTQ+ love letter that addresses love as well as several more serious issues including mental health and self-acceptance.

Bridgerton:

CCXP also has a massive display for Netflix’s record-breaking series Bridgerton.

Fans of this Regency-era period drama yearned for more from the powerful Bridgerton family after its premiere in 2020. The show, which is currently in its third season, is an adaptation of novels by author Julia Quinn.

It was created by Chris Van Dusen, and he and the other showrunners gave the political intrigue, romances, and historical elements a delectable spin.
