National Treasure: Edge of History is one of those television shows that is reviving a classic franchise property. On Disney+, there are a tonne of brand-new, exciting shows that are kicking off the streaming service’s 2022 in style.

Disney+ has recently unearthed new character posters that give fans the most recent look at our new team of treasure hunters before the series premieres on December 14. The best part is that, in true franchise form, each poster contains a hint to a deeper meaning.

The seven brand-new character posters feature Billie Pearce (Caterine Zeta-Jones), Jess Morales/Valenzuela (Lisette Olivera), Tasha Rivers (Zuri Reed), Liam Sadusky (Jake Austin Walker), Ethan (Jordan Rodrigues), Oren (Antonio Cipriano), and Agent Ross (Lyndon Smith).

Each character is associated with a specific trait. The Truth Keeper for Billie, The Truth Seeker for Jess, The Specialist for Tasha, The Wild Card for Liam, The Skeptic for Ethan, The Believer for Oren, and The Law for Ross.

The motion posters give these pictures a new dimension that is not visible to the untrained eye or the uninitiated.

Each poster contains hints to a much larger message with certain letters underlined. For instance, Billie underlines the “TR” in truth, while Jess underlines the “U” in truth. The letters in question are “TRUSEERA,” according to the posters’ order. Unscrambling them reveals that they spell out “TREASURE.”

With the underlined letters strongly evoking the scene from the first National Treasure where Riley hires a child to help him decipher the Declaration of Independence, these posters are just another entertaining and easy way to interact with fans.

The franchise’s spirit of exploration has been amply captured in this series from all of the posters, trailers, and marketing materials released so far. In this particular treasure hunt, Riley Poole, a recurring character who is once again played by Justin Bartha, will assist a new group of explorers led by Jess.

Once more in the style of the franchise, Jess and Billie are both searching for three enigmatic boxes. The hints in these boxes reveal the location of a lost treasure that Jess’ father previously told her about.

This new instalment will be grounded in themes of family and legacy, just like previous entries in the franchise. It’s all about discovering where Jess is from and experiencing the rush of being the first to find the treasure.

With its involvement in the Mexican-American War, Edge of History promises to be yet another incredibly entertaining instalment filled with traps, puzzles, and never-ending clues. In addition, given Riley’s supporting role in this most recent adventure, it will be intriguing to see how the series connects to the Nicolas Cage-starring movies. Additionally, Harvey Keitel will return to the series as FBI Agent Sadusky.

The first two episodes of National Treasure: Edge of History debut on Disney+ on December 14. There will be ten episodes in the first season.
