North West posts a TikTok video lip-syncing to Michael Jackson’s famous tracks

The eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West paid tribute to Michael Jackson on TikTok. North performs lip-syncing, dancing, and acting in a music video for the late singer’s 1988 hit song “Man In The Mirror” with one of her friends in a video that was uploaded to her and her mother’s joint account on December 9.

In the video, North makes fun of her artificial moustache and beard by applying shaving cream to them at one point.

North has been a longstanding admirer of the late King of Pop and is in possession of a number of recognisable items from his wardrobe. A special black embroidered velvet jacket that the “Bad” singer wore in 1997 to Elizabeth Taylor’s 65th birthday celebration and again to the screening of his film Ghost at the 50th Cannes Film Festival was given to her by her parents in 2019.

“North is a really big Michael Jackson fan and we knew she would love this,” Kim shared in a video on her Instagram Story on Christmas Eve in 2019. “We won this on an auction for Northie for Christmas.”

The Kardashians star also explained that the jacket was temporarily altered to fit North, with the option of lengthening the body and sleeves as she grows. “It can grow with her and she can have this for her whole life,” Kim said. “And she is so grateful and so excited.”

North also owns the white and black fedora that Michael wore in the 1988 music video for “Smooth Criminal.” Through Julien’s Auction House, I bought the two items. The winning price for the superstar’s headgear was $56,250, while the jacket sold for $65,625 at auction.

North isn’t the first famous child to honour Michael online, either. Josey Rivera, the son of Naya Rivera, was spotted on his father Ryan Dorsey’s Instagram Story performing “Man in the Mirror” and strumming a guitar last year.

Fans immediately compared the young child’s obvious love of music to that of his late mother after seeing the August 2021 video. Naya, who passed away in July 2020 after accidentally drowning while boating with her kid, made an appearance in Glee’s Michael tribute episode in 2012 and gave a memorable performance of “Smooth Criminal.”
