A number of celebrities have contacted the International Cricket Council (ICC) on the contentious DRS “umpire’s call” rule, which cost Pakistan a vital World Cup match against South Africa.

The contentious LBW decision made by South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi, which resulted in a heartbreaking loss to Pakistan and placed them in danger of losing the major cricket tournament, sparked intense debate over the rule. With one wicket remaining, South Africa needed eight runs. Haris Rauf attempted to catch Shamsi in front of the stumps with the final ball of the 46th over. Despite a strong appeal, the umpire declined to award it. Babar reached for the DRS right away.

Shamsi did, however, make it through in the replays according to the umpire’s call rule. Proteas went on to win the match in the 48th over.

Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian cricket player, criticized the regulation. On the social media site X, he wrote: “Bad umpiring and bad rules cost Pakistan this game.. @ICC should change this rule .. if the ball is hitting the stump that’s out whether umpire gave out or not out doesn’t matter.. otherwise what is the use of technology???”

It was an out, according to Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana as well. “Yeh Shamsi out tha bro..” he wrote.

Singer Ali Zafar from Pakistan declared that, in his opinion, Pakistan has won the contest. “Pakistan won ! That was an OUT! ‘Impact in line!’ Yes, we can argue over it and can all have our own opinions. For me, Pakistan won.”

My pals have a legitimate question that could stay with them for a very long time, “Why did it take longer than usual for the review video. Something didn’t look right.” Maybe a technical glitch?

“Regardless of everything, did anyone think the team would fight like that when it started ? Hats off to the boys. You have our love and respect,” he wrote.
