Rakul Preet Singh delivers s*x education in Chhatriwali trailer

Chhatriwali, Rakul Preet Singh first release of the year, is ready to release. The actor, who appears in several movies every year, is currently the star of a movie in which she decides to teach the next generation about safe s*x. Rakul is shown in the recently released video as an unapologetic young woman who decides to become a teacher to instruct school-age youngsters about safe sex and reproduction.

Singh is questioned by Sumeet Vyas in the teaser on why anyone would use protection during intercourse. She learns that a loved one is having an abortion because of unprotected intercourse. Also that male and female reproduction are optional subjects in school textbooks. She confronts the administration of the school to stop teaching s*x education as an elective subject and begins holding sessions to address s*x-related questions. Along with that, she gathers housewives and educates them on protected sex.

The slice-of-life drama, which Tejas Prabha, Vijay Deoskar directed, is set in Haryana and stars Rakul as Sanya. Rakul last appeared as a gynaecologist in the movie Doctor G.

Talking about the film, Rakul said, “Chhatriwali was that dream project where it checked all the boxes and now with the trailer out, I hope that our hard work pays off as this film deserves special attention and credit. In today’s patriarchal society, every household needs a Sanya who holds the courage to single-handedly fight against all odds, traditions, social norms, and barriers.”

She noted that the purpose of Chhatriwali is to emphasise the value of safe intercourse and male contraception. “I hope this character inspires others to find their voice and speak up against unsafe sex and the many health implications of not using protection. India’s youth make up for majority of the population and educating them on safe s*x and s*x education is the need of the hour, so I am glad that Chhatriwali is catering to them and everyone else in a progressive and entertaining manner,” Rakul said.

The film, according to Sumeet Vyas, who co-stars with Rakul and breaks the awkward silence surrounding s*x in Indian society. “Today’s generation is curious about the word ‘s*x’, ‘intimacy’ because there is always a sense of ‘hush-hush’ around such topics. Amidst the clutter of genres and stories, I am glad that the team thought of this empowering narrative and delivered it with great sensitivity,” he added.

Chhatriwali, a Ronnie Screwvala-produced film, will debut on ZEE5 on January 20. Along with Riva Arora, it also features Satish Shah, Dolly Ahluwalia, Rajesh Tailang, Prachee Shah Paandya, and Rakesh Bedi.
