Selena Gomez, the actress, singer, and CEO of Rare Beauty released a throwback video of herself on TikTok discussing her career goals the day after being nominated for a Golden Globe.
Gomez, 30, was questioned on the recently discovered 2011 KTLA Morning Show tape about her desire to win a Grammy. She emphasized that her goal was to win an acting-related award, nevertheless.
“I think it would be an honor, of course, but I’m more of a Golden Globe or Oscar girl,” she explained in the clip.
Gomez captioned the video: “Dreams do come true!! GUYS IM NOMINATED FOR A GOLDEN GLOBE. Brb gonna scream.”
For her portrayal of Mabel Mora in Only Murders in the Building, the actress is nominated for best performance by an actress in a comedy or musical television series at the 2023 Golden Globes. Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), and Jean Smart were also nominated in this category (Hacks).
Gomez’s co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short are both up for best performance by an actor in a television series, comedy, or musical, while Only Murders in the Building is also nominated for best television series, comedy, or musical.
Gomez also became a Grammy nominee this year when Revelation was up for Best Latin Pop Album, despite the fact that it might not have been her first goal as a teenager.
Gomez appeared with Martin and Short during their opening monologue on Saturday Night Live prior to receiving her Golden Globe nomination.
The comedians gave eulogies in which they lighthearted mocked each other about what they would say at their deaths. “Wow! Not many people showed up, “Martin made a joke.
Martin then joked, “Now that Marty’s gone, who will I ever work with?” which caused Gomez to enter the stage as the pair resumed their comic back-and-forth.
