Justin Neill can shout Lea Michele’s praises outside of a glee club. Former Cory Monteith of Glee roommate Justin reflected on watching the friendship between the co-stars up close. Justin claims that the actress made a good, long-lasting impression.

“Lea was awesome to me,” Justin told the news in an exclusive Jan. 12 interview. “She would literally go food shopping, come over to the house, and make eggplant parmesan for us. And she was the kind of entertainer [who] would just think about everything.”

Justin remarked that he and another close friend frequently served as Cory’s plus two to the occasion, which gave them the chance to get to know Lea’s parents, Edith and Marc Sarfati, as well as Lea.

Lea’s parents would frequently hang out with us, Justin recounted. “I also adored her dad. Such a funny person, he was.”

On the Fox series’ set in 2009, Lea and Cory, who played the characters Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson, respectively, first met. The actor passed away after an unintentional drug overdose in July 2013. He was dating Lea at the time.

Not all Glee celebrities have passed away recently, including Cory. Noah “Puck” Puckerman’s actor Mark Salling committed suicide in 2018, while Santana Lopez’s actress Naya Rivera drowned unintentionally in 2020.

In the upcoming Investigation Discovery documentary series The Price of Glee, to which Justin contributed, the actors’ demises are explored.

When asked why he decided to take part in the docuseries, Justin exclusively revealed to E! News that his intention was to highlight Cory’s legacy outside of his fictional role.

“The number one thing for me was I wanted to talk to his mom and make sure this was alright with her,” Justin recalled, “and let her know it was extremely important for me to tell the story of who Cory really was.”
