The conversation room now features Meghan McCain. The late Arizona senator John McCain’s daughter offered her opinion on the current hot-button issue of nepotism in Hollywood and urged family members of famous people to accept their privileges in both life and business.

“To my fellow ‘Nepo babies’—just acknowledge your privilege, the opportunities your last name has gotten you, and move on,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories on Dec. 29. “It’s pretty simple.”

You sound like assholes, Meghan said, “But let’s stop acting like this is in any way a sensible burden that people know who [our] parents are. Talent and tenacity do come into play at some time.”

The TV celebrity, who is a single mother with a child on the way, had previously commented about nepotism on The View in July 2021, a week before her tenure as a co-host came to an end.

The dispute about whether nepotism contributes to a star’s success grew in 2022. TikTok has created thousands of films deconstructing celebrity family trees, frequently accusing individuals who achieved success of riding the coattails of their A-List relatives. Vulture’s piece “How The Neo Baby Was Born” from December 19 went viral.

And Meghan, 38, is not the only famous person with a well-known last name to express an opinion on the contentious issue. Maude Apatow, the daughter of director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann, acknowledged that she was originally “sorry” to be called a “nepotism baby” when it was called such by TikTokers.

The 25-year-old said to Net-a-Porter in September, “I try not to let it get to me since I definitely understand that I’m in such a great position.” “Many people [in a comparable position] have established themselves through time, so I must continue and provide quality work.

The Euphoria star continued, “I don’t have much to show yet because it’s very early in my career, but perhaps one day I’ll be incredibly happy with the things I’ve accomplished on my own.”

Lottie Moss, the sister of supermodel Kate Moss, expressed her frustration with those who blame nepotism for their lack of success and wealth in a tweet earlier this month.

“Obviously it’s not fair that people who come from famous families are getting a leg up because of that but guess what? Life isn’t fair,” the 24-year-old model tweeted on Dec. 21. “If you put your mind to something you can accomplish anything So instead of being negative about other people’s success go and try and create your own!”
