2023 appears to be another strong year for the horror genre. This also applies to Evil Dead from the aptly named Evil Dead Rise. Rise’s marketing is starting to pick up steam as the movie prepares to visit theatres in April. Tomorrow, January 4, the first trailer for the movie will debut. Warner Brothers gave Deadite fans the first poster for Rise, which has only served to heighten the already blood-soaked anticipation.

The poster in question features our new Deadite-possessed lead character Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) clutching her children tightly while grinning ominously into the camera. The caption “Mommy loves you to death” only heightens the fear in this image. The subject of this movie is still shrouded in a lot of dark mystery, but it revolves around two estranged sisters, Ellie and Beth (Lily Sullivan), who reunite after years away.

Ellie and her kids reside in a high-rise apartment complex in Los Angeles. Similar to the 2013 Evil Dead reboot, this movie’s horror will be surrounded by family-friendly themes. However, this is the first movie in the series to have a significant amount of child characters. That will undoubtedly increase the already horrific dread of this universe greatly.

One of the few well-liked horror series without a weak installment is Evil Dead. It continues to be one of the more varied franchises in terms of its storytelling through its four films and a TV series. Every kind of horror lover may find something to like in Evil Dead, whether they prefer the campy terror of the original, the horror-comedy vibes of its sequel and Army of Darkness, or the somber terror of the 2013 feature. According to what we’ve seen thus far, Rise shares a similar tone with the 2013 version. Any fan of Evil Dead ought to be intrigued by the macabre imagery, ominous lighting, and atmosphere of dread.

Nobody knows how the Necronomicon will end up in the hands of a family in Los Angeles, but the new context might give the Deadites some intriguing new life. For instance, the series has never before been in a densely populated setting like an apartment complex. With the exception of Army of Darkness, Evil Dead has largely maintained its “cabin in the woods” milieu. It will be intriguing to watch the Deadites unleashed on the populace as a result. There will undoubtedly be a lot of bloody bloodsheds.
