We’re all excited about Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy’s progress on Deadpool 3, which appears to be generating a lot of ideas. Both are preparing for yet another feature-length collaboration with the comedy flick Boy Band, which will be shot at Paramount, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be produced by both of the frequently collaborating parties, and Levy is a potential director contender. The MCU star co-wrote the story with screenwriter Jesse Andrews, who is most known for writing the screenplay for the movie Me & Earl and the Dying Girl.

Reynolds wrote the screenplay, though specifics of the plot are currently being kept under wraps. The movie is reportedly about a boy band reunion, as implied by the title. Although it is unknown what leading part Reynolds will play in the film, based on what viewers saw in the Apple TV+ Christmas movie Spirited, the likelihood that he will be portraying one of the boys is high, and we’re betting on the frontman.

Fans witnessed a different side of Reynolds in Spirited, when he amply demonstrated that he has all the necessary traits for being the leader of a boy band. Reynolds is most known for his stunning performances in a red suit as Deadpool, aka the Merc with a Mouth, in the namesake Marvel movie series.

Reynold’s position in Spirited was one he accepted mostly because it allowed him to fulfil a lifetime ambition of his to work with Will Ferrell, but it appears the role may have sparked a new passion for the actor. Reynolds said the job was a “one-time-only contract” in an interview that he was unlikely to take similar ones, but he seems to have caught the singing/dancing bug. I have questioned that notion at every turn throughout the entire process.

There must have been a simpler way to hang out with Will, I thought. Regarding the practices, Reynolds stated. He acknowledged that he enjoyed the thought of dancing despite the demanding, three-month-long choreography rehearsals that were necessary. Yet, the effort paid off as the movie received generally favorable reviews and received high praise for the chemistry between Reynolds and Ferrell.

Boy Band will be produced by Levy under 21 Laps Entertainment, while Reynolds will produce it under his Maximum Effort label, which has a first-look agreement with Paramount. Free Guy, The Adam Project, and the upcoming Deadpool 3—which will see Hugh Jackman’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wolverine as Wade Wilson’s adversary—are some of the projects the two have previously collaborated on. Levy is also in discussions to take on the role of director for Boy Band, but his participation in that capacity will depend on his availability as the director keeps a hectic schedule. Boy Band’s production is expected to start sometime between this fall and the beginning of next year.
