Creed III started its weekend with a blast at the US box office. After a phenomenal Friday opening of $22, the movie is already looking to climb up to the top spot.

The movie, after its Friday screening, surpassed Marvel’s Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantamania at the domestic box office.

The Michal B. Jordan-starrer set to amass a franchise-best opening weekend collection of $51 million. It is higher than the anticipated collection of $36 million to $40 million.

Comparatively, the first Creed made $29 million over the customary three-day weekend and $42 million over the five-day Thanksgiving holiday. In 2018, the Stephen Caple Jr.-directed film Creed II brought in $35.5 million over the customary three-day weekend and $56 million over the longer Thanksgiving holiday.

The first movie made $173 million during its theatrical run, and Creed II made $214 million.
