Willem Dafoe isn’t totally abandoning his Spider-Man role as the Green Goblin. The Inside actor, 67, said he would think about reprising his role as the enduring antagonist, for which he initially gained notoriety in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and later made an appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, but only under specific conditions.

“Yes, if everything went as planned. Indeed, that’s a fantastic role. The dual role was appealing to me both times “He said in reference to his multiple roles as Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin, his deranged alter ego.

Twenty years ago and relatively recently were completely different experiences, but I enjoyed both of them, he continued.

In an interview with Variety from last year, Dafoe provided some insight into how he was approached to reprise his role for Spider-Man: No Way Home, despite the fact that his Green Goblin character had passed away in 2002’s Spider-Man.

“It’s always a little challenging to come back in any sequels when you die in a movie,” he stated. “I assumed that I was finished. Did they ask you whether you’d like to reprise this part when they first asked? I questioned, “Really? How did that occur? I was somewhat foolish about it.”

“I can say, and maybe drank the Kool-Aid, but these are people that genuinely are believing in what they’re doing and dedicating themselves to it in a really complete way,” Dafoe said in a statement to Variety.

He clarified, “I’m not just talking about incredibly brilliant actors. “The camera section and the effects team in particular are both of the highest caliber. And that’s all fairly alluring once you have the means and chance to produce a successful movie.”

He’s not the only Spider-Man actor who is willing to take on new roles in that universe of movies.

Tobey Maguire, who played Peter Parker/Spider-Man alongside Willem Dafoe in Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, said in January that he would unquestionably say “yes” to any future projects Marvel may has in mind for him.

Maguire, 47, told the website, “I love these movies and I love all of the different series. “I would say yes if these folks phoned and asked, “Would you come up tonight to hang out and have fun?” “Would you show up to do this movie, read a part, or do a Spider-Man thing?”

He mocked, “Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?

The prospect of reprising that role, according to Bryce Dallas Howard, who costarred as Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3 from 2007, “would be incredibly exciting.”

The 41-year-old Howard stated, “Because we are investigating multiverses — and by we are exploring it, they are exploring it, and I’m enjoying it. “I’d always be up for that.”
