BRATISLAVA: India’s External Affairs Minister Jaishankar has retaliated against Western criticism of India’s oil purchases from Russia during the Ukraine conflict.
In Slovakia, Jaishankar spoke at the GLOBSEC 2022 Bratislava Forum.
According to the minister, India is a sovereign country that must make decisions in its own best interests.
He questioned why only India was being questioned when Europe continued to receive Russian gas despite the Ukraine conflict.
“If India buying Russia oil is funding the war…,” S Jaishankar remarked in response to a question about whether India’s oil purchases from Russia are funding the ongoing Ukraine war.
