MEDINA: : A tragic accident on Monday morning saw a bus carrying Indian Umrah pilgrims collide with an oil tanker while traveling from Mecca to Medina, resulting in reports of multiple fatalities, according to Arab media.

The bus, transporting 42 passengers from Hyderabad in the Indian state of Telangana, included women and children. Following the collision, both vehicles caught fire, raising serious concerns about casualties. Saudi authorities are reported to be conducting rescue and emergency operations at the scene.

Indian politician Asaduddin Owaisi, speaking to the media, stated that preliminary reports suggest 41 pilgrims may have lost their lives in the accident. However, Saudi officials have yet to release an official statement regarding the confirmed death toll.

Rescue efforts continue as authorities work to provide assistance and assess the full extent of the tragedy.
