Pakistan Army Mi-17 helicopter crashes near Muzaffarabad

All personnel on board embraced Shahadat. There were no survivors.

RAWALPINDI: A Mi-17 helicopter of Pakistan Army Aviation crashed near Muzaffarabad on Wednesday during take-off due to technical fault.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), all personnel on board embraced Shahadat. There were no survivors.

Rescue and recovery teams immediately reached the crash site. A board of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the exact technical cause of the accident.

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces and all Ranks Pakistan Army express deep grief over the tragic loss of precious lives and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the crash of a Pakistan Army Mi-17 helicopter near Muzaffarabad.

The president extended heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the personnel who were martyred in the incident.

He said the nation pays tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs and stands in solidarity with their bereaved families in their time of grief.

Zardari prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the deceased and for patience and strength for their loved ones.

 

Earlier, An MI-17 helicopter of the Pakistan Army crashed near Hudor village, approximately 12 kilometers away from Thakdas Cantonment, leaving five personnel, including the pilots and crew, martyred.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), On 1 Sep 25, at around 1000 hours, an MI-17 helicopter crash landed near Hudor village approximately 12 kilometers away from Thakdas Cantonment.
