Legendary Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who is in Turkey to resume shooting for his film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha‘, was warmly received by Turkish first lady Emine Erdogan.

According to media officials, upon Aamir Khan’s request, the actor was received by the first lady at the presidential residence at the Huber Mansion in Istanbul.

Bollywood megastar briefed Erdogan about the various social projects that he and his wife, Kiran Rao, have been involved in, including his initiative of the Water Foundation which aims to supply water to regions hit by drought.

The report further claimed that he was felicitated by Erdogan for using his films to highlight crucial social problems around the world.

The two prominent figures also went into discourse about the several comparable aspects of Turkish and Indian cultures including food and handicrafts.

The actor had jetted off to Turkey to wrap up the shoot for his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha, which is a remake of the 1994 US comedy-drama starring Tom Hanks, in Turkey.

The film also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role and is the official Hindi remake of the film Forrest Gump. The actor announced the film last year on his birthday.

Aamir Khan, who came to Turkey on a special invitation from the Culture and Tourism Ministry to promote his film Superstar in 2017, had shown great interest in Istanbul and Ankara.
