The government of Canada has announced the next phase of relaxing restrictions on international travelers, opening its borders for discretionary travel from all countries that meet particular entrance standards.

This implies that properly vaccinated international visitors can visit Canada for tourism and other non-essential purposes beginning September 7 without being quarantined for 14 days.

Travelers should be immunized with a vaccination approved by the Government of Canada at least 14 days before entering Canada. In Canada, Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Covishield, and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) are currently approved.

Regardless of vaccination status, all travelers must have a pre-entry COVID-19 molecular test result obtained no more than 72 hours before departure, and they must also use ArriveCAN (app or web portal) to enter their travel information.

Travelers who are fully vaccinated and meet the standards will be exempt from quarantine.

However, all travelers must still give a quarantine plan and be prepared to quarantine if it is decided at the border that they do not meet the necessary requirements.
