With Pakistan’s back-to-back wins, Babar Azam’s record-breaking spree also continues in the T20 World Cup as the skipper recently broke Virat Kohli’s record to become the fastest captain to reach the milestone of 1,000 runs in T20Is.
On October 29, Pakistan registered its third win against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup after they chased 148 in 19 overs. Asif Ali finished the score in the 19th over with four sixes off Afghan’s medium pacer Karim Janat.

Azam made 51 runs off 47 balls in the game and snatched the ‘fastest captain’ title to reach the milestone of 1,000 runs in T20Is. He achieved it in just 26 innings to exceed Kohli, who had taken 30 innings to reach 1,000 runs as captain in T20Is.
South Africa’s Faf du Plessis (31), Australian skipper Arron Finch (32), and New Zealand’s skipper Kane Williamson (36) are the others on the list
Last month, Azam and Mohammad Rizwan also became the first Pakistani pair to reach a 1,000-run partnership.
Pakistan started their T20 World Cup campaign by beating arch-rival India by 10 wickets on October 24. Later on October 26, Pakistan registered their second victory against New Zealand by five wickets. With a third win against Afghanistan, Pakistan has secured its spot in the semifinals, which will be played on November 10 and 11. The T20 World Cup will conclude with the finale on November 14 at the Dubai International Stadium.
