After the match between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Friday night, Quetta Gladiators’ spinner Abrar Ahmed and opener Saud Shakeel were penalized.

Both players were fined five per cent of their match fees for Level 1 violations of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of Conduct.

Abrar violated Article 2.4 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which states: “Disobeying an umpire’s instruction during the match.”

“The incident occurred in the 19th over of Islamabad United’s batting, when, while fielding, Abrar rolled the ball all along the ground despite being instructed by the umpires not to do so,” according to a press release from the PCB.

“In a separate incident, in the same match, Saud was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match.

“After dismissing United’s batter Salman Ali Agha in the 12th over, Saud went close to Salman and made remarks which could have provoked the batter.

“Both players pleaded guilty to the charges and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Mohammad Javed.

“The charges were imposed by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Gaffaney.”

It’s important to note that Islamabad United beat Quetta Gladiators by 39 runs. This victory led United to the second Eliminator where they will face Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi tomorrow at the same venue.

The Gladiators struggled during their chase of 175 runs, falling short by 39 runs. Islamabad’s bowlers dominated the game from the start, preventing the Gladiators from making a comeback.

In their chase, Quetta faced several setbacks at the beginning of their innings, losing five wickets for just 16 runs in the first five overs.

Imad took three wickets, Naseem claimed two, and Obey McCoy, Hunain Shah, and Faheem Ashraf each took one wicket.

Despite a slow start while batting first, Islamabad found their rhythm and began hitting boundaries.

Martin Guptill was the top scorer for the two-time PSL winners, scoring 56 runs off 47 balls, including six boundaries. He was followed by Salman Ali Agha, who added 31 runs off 21 balls.
