LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Appellate Tribunal allowed former Chief Minister Punjab and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi to contest the by-election.
Pervez Elahi had challenged the rejection of nomination papers from PP 32, on which the Appellate Tribunal allowed him to contest the election.
The Appellate Tribunal accepted the nomination papers of Parvez Elahi’s son Moonis Elahi.
The Returning Officer rejected the nomination papers of Moonis Elahi’s PP 158.
On the other hand, the tribunal also allowed Zara Elahi and Sameera Elahi to contest the election.
Earlier, the returning officer had rejected the nomination papers of Chaudhary Parvez Elahi and three other female candidates, all belonging to the PTI, for unknown reasons.
Their nomination papers were submitted after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) extended the last date of filing the papers to March 20.
On March 25 2024, Appellate Tribunal declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Murad Saeed eligible for the Senate elections.
Appellate Tribunal judge Justice Shakeel Ahmed heard Murad Saeed’s appeal. The tribunal accepted Murad Saeed’s appeal.
