The analysis revealed a 31% increase in fatal car crashes during the eclipse timeframe, translating to approximately 1 extra crash-involved person every 25 minutes and 1 additional crash fatality every 95 minutes. This surge in road deaths during celestial events underscores the need for heightened vigilance among drivers.

The spike in driving during eclipses can be attributed to the surge in people traveling to prime viewing locations. For the upcoming April 8 eclipse, over 3.7 million individuals are expected to travel to key states for optimal viewing. Texas, with its favorable viewing conditions, is anticipated to host the most travelers, ranging from 270,000 to one million visitors.
