The overnight heavy rain lashing in Islamabad has left the city at the mercy of torrential streams inducing fears of high-level flooding of Lai Nullah as Army teams and resources turn up to rescue people.
Cloudburst in Islamabad has disrupted life in the federal capital and Rawalpindi, causing flooding in various areas.
Heavy rains hit the E-11 area of the capital city the hardest, with water entering homes and flooding, damaging dozens of vehicles.
Two people, a woman and her child died when water entered the house.
The civil administration along with the armed forces are involved in the rescue operation in the E-11 sector and using heavy machinery to drain the water from the streets.
The traffic police also shared an update that all roads in Islamabad have been opened for traffic and are witnessing the usual flow.
Here are some videos circulating all over social media which showed cars washing away. The harrowing clip from Islamabad’s sectors E-11 and D-12 show cars floating in waters after heavy rains.

In the meanwhile, the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner said, “teams are clearing nullahs and roads and hopefully we will be able to clear everything in an hour”.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) teams are working to clear the roads. All the teams are in the field to clear excessive water. The machinery is working on maximum locations for clearance.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army troops are busy assisting civil administration in rescue and relief efforts. Contingencies plans are in place to meet any flood situation, it added.
