KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) cancelled the notification to close the roads of Burns Road for food street and ordered administration to open roads in two days.
A two-member bench headed by the Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi heard the case.
The Sindh High Court accepted the petition of the residents of Burns Road and instructed that Burns Road and surrounding roads should not be closed during evening hours.
Court remarked that basic rights of citizens cannot be removed for food street and ordered to immediately remove all encroachments from roads and footpaths.
The petitioner stated that even the ambulance cannot allow to pass due to road closure.
The petitioner further stated that residents face severe hardship during evening hours.
The lawyer said closure of Burns Road does not affect the specific area but also disturbed the traffic of Liaquatabad as well as from Malir to Tower.
Earlier, Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a response from the federal government and OGRA in the petition against the increase in the prices of petrol.
Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the case against the increase in the prices of petroleum products.
