KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman slammed Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for having an agenda aimed at reducing their party supporters, while announced to stage a protest against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for releasing polling results.
Hafiz Naeem while having a press conference in Karachi today, said that Pakistan is currently undergoing severe challenges with people having a tough life.
He criticized the Sindh government’s infrastructure policies, adding that they seized the mandate of Karachi.
JI chief further accused PPP of conducting illegal measures to increase their numbers, including changing seats and not conducting local elections.
While criticizing PPP, he added that the ECP had been supporting PPP to a shameful extent.
Slamming PPP for having an agenda to reduce Jamaat-e-Islami (JIs) numbers, Hafiz Naeem said that in such a situation the mayor of Karachi will not be a PPP’s jiyala.
Polling results of 11 Union Councils (UCs) had not been announced yet, despite the elections being held on January 15; said Hafiz Naeem.
He said that their party wants to work for the development of Karachi and the election body must play a positive role.
Besides this, Naeem ur Rehman also demanded polling results be corrected with the immediate release of the results of R20 UCs.
JI chief announced that they will stage a protest and a sit-in at ECP on March 10, which will continue until the demands are met.
Added at JI is doing everything for the betterment of the people of Karachi and not for their own selves.
However, it is worth noting that PPP has been in power in Sindh since 2008, following which the party won the majority of the local government elections; held in the province in this time span.
