Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Vienna today and was accorded a warm and formal reception by the Austrian government, highlighting the deepening ties between Pakistan and Austria as both countries mark 70 years of diplomatic relations.

At the Federal Chancellery of Austria, Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker welcomed the prime minister upon his arrival. A formal guard of honour from the Austrian Armed Forces presented a salute, and the national anthems of both Pakistan and Austria were played at the start of the reception ceremony.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chancellor Stocker inspected the honour guard together, a ceremonial gesture underlining the respect and mutual goodwill between the two nations.

During the reception, Chancellor Stocker introduced members of his cabinet to the visiting premier, and in turn, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented the Pakistani delegation.

Following the formalities, both leaders are set to hold bilateral talks at the delegation level to review and expand cooperation across political, economic, and cultural spheres. Agreements are expected to be exchanged to strengthen trade, investment and shared interests.

The visit represents a significant diplomatic engagement, being the first official visit by a Pakistani prime minister to Austria in over three decades, and is expected to add new momentum to bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is accompanied by key members of his government, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, and other senior officials, as part of the two‑day official visit to Vienna.
