King Charles to visit Australia amid growing Republican anti-monarchy sentiment?

King Charles III may soon visit Australia to counteract the country’s rising Republican sentiment.

Royal commentators and historians predict that the Commonwealth’s leading nation will formally sever ties with the Royal Family.

Dr Cindy McCreery, an Australian culture historian, has proposed a temporary solution, claiming that Britain’s new monarch’s tour may be exactly what the country requires.

“I do think that some visits by senior royals like the King and Queen or the heir to the throne, would help,” she told Express UK.

McCreery, an associate professor at the University of Sydney, added that visits by senior members of the Royal Family “certainly help”, adding: “It does help promote the relationship.”

On Thursday, Australia’s central bank announced that King Charles would not be featured on the country’s new five-dollar bill, the only note featuring the British monarch.

Some see the new development as a worrying sign for the British monarchy, as the country debates how closely it should be linked to Britain constitutionally.

The historian believes that many Australians believe they are not a priority for the British Royal Family, and that this is unlikely to change in the future. “I don’t know that we are really a priority,” the historian said. “And I think that’s what Australians are waking up to… that the King is focusing on so much else.”

It is worth noting that Buckingham Palace has not yet released any information about the King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla’s upcoming royal tours.
