Former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs arrived in Azad Kashmir to be part of the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) despite all threats from India.

The grand opening ceremony of KPL was held yesterday in which besides Azad Kashmir President Masood Khan, a large number of eminent personalities from Pakistan also participated.

Every tactic was used by India to thwart the Kashmir Premier League and besides the players, the ICC was also pressured not to accept the league which was torn apart by former Test cricketers Herschelle Gibbs and Monte Panesar.

Despite all the threats from India, Herschelle Gibbs and Tillakaratne Dilshan have been announced to be part of the Kashmir Premier League and now Herschelle Gibbs has also joined the KPL team Overseas Warriors.

Kashmir Premier League team Overseas Warriors owner Muhammad Zakir Ali welcomed South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs and presented him with the number 4 shirt.

He took to Twitter and wrote, ” Completely unnecessary of the BCCI to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation and trying to prevent me playing in the KPL. Also threatening me by saying they won’t allow me entry into India for any cricket related work. Ludicrous.”

the foreign players have withdrawn from the league after serious threats from the Indian board, even though they had earlier announced to play in the league unconditionally.

Sources said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India has threatened the cricketers who want to play in the Kashmir Premier League that if they participate in the league, the doors of cricket in the Indian Premier League and India will be closed and now the league is being organized by Pakistani players.
