Shoaib Akhtar recalls how Rahul Dravid & Sachin Tendulkar used to exhaust him

Shoaib Akhtar, a former Pakistan fast bowler, was one of the fastest bowlers in cricket history. On his day, Akhtar used to tear through batting lineups with his blistering pace.

The Rawalpindi Express has always praised Indian batsmen such as Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.

Akhtar recently discussed bowling to them during Pakistan-India matches, revealing that they used to tyre him out.

These two batters were considered one of the best players in the game by Akhtar during an IPL match preview presentation on Sportskeeda.

“One of the main reasons for my retirement was that I am not able to wake up early anymore. I have been waking up at 6 am for the past 25 years. And then to bowl to the likes of Sachin and Dravid, they used to tire me all day. So this was one of the main reasons for my retirement – that I can’t wake up early.”

Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid fought hard against Akhtar. With his pace, the Pakistani pacester posed a serious threat, as the Indian batters fought tooth and nail to see his overs through.

Tendulkar has been dismissed twice in six Test matches by Akhtar, who has a strike rate of 56.40 against him.

Tendulkar had a better ODI record against Akhtar, although he was dismissed four times by the Rawalpindi Express.

Shoaib Akhtar struck out these two hitters for a golden duck early in his career, and that moment is still recognised as one of his most memorable.
