With the Falcons chasing 105 from 10 overs, Du Plooy struck two sixes and a four off Matthew Waite to seal a thrilling triumph with two balls to spare.

Harry Brook  previously made 77 off 50 balls. His third half-century of the season. Finn Allen blasted four sixes in his 37 off 17 balls. The Vikings lost their final five wickets for six runs in 11 balls to finish on 175.

The game delayed for 90 minutes. Fast bowler George Scrimshaw got three wickets in the penultimate over to end with three for 20 and spinner Mark Watt three for 29.

Yorkshire seemed to be favourite when Dom Leech claimed three wickets. Du Plooy had the ultimate say, giving the Falcons their fourth straight T20 victory over Yorkshire at Queen’s Park.

Du Plooy hit two fours off the fifth to leave the Falcons requiring 56 points from 30 balls, and the home side went ahead of the pace with three goals from Waite.

Waite bowled a wide and Du Plooy did the rest, winning the game with a massive six over midwicket with 19 required off the penultimate over.
