Erling Haaland extended the visitors’ lead after 16 minutes with a long-range shot, giving him goals in seven straight games and 14 in the past nine.

Just 55 seconds had passed for the hosts after only one touch of the ball by Jack Grealish gave City the lead.

Even after Nathan Collins was dismissed for a high tackle on Grealish in the first half, a determined Wolves persisted in trying to attack.

They never appeared likely to add to their pitiful record of three league goals, however, with Raul Jimenez out due to injury and new addition Diego Costa not deemed fit enough for any involvement beyond greeting some fans prior to the game.

City, on the other hand, has 23, and Phil Foden, who assisted Kevin de Bruyne in clinching his team’s victory, scored the final goal midway through the second half.

Before the game had started, Haaland had already outscored 13 of City’s 19 Premier League rivals individually. By the finish, the visiting fans were chanting, “Erling Haaland has scored more than you,” to the Wolves fans. Haaland now has a lead of 11 to 3 over Wolves.

For comparison, Mohamed Salah had scored four goals in seven games in 2017–18, when he surpassed the record for goals in a 38–game season.

The most recent attempt by Haaland was unusual because it was scored from outside the penalty area.

After gaining control of the ball within the Wolves’ half, Haaland was given room to spin and sprint before beating Jose Sa with a low shot.

He accomplished this feat by becoming the first player to score in all four of their away Premier League contests.

Haaland also supplied the assist from which De Bruyne finished off Foden’s goal in the second half.

Even though there is still a lot of play left in the season, it is difficult to believe that Haaland or the defending champions City can be stopped from winning the title based on the data at hand.
