Sahibzada Farhan confirms KPK’s place in Semi finals

• Sahidzada Farhan scored century against Balochistan.

Sahibzada Farhan Ahmed scored 102 off 64 to seal a 38-run victory for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over Balochistan.

In the 29th fixture of the Kingdom Valley National T20 Cup 2022-23 at the Multan Cricket Stadium here on Saturday.

The victory also guarantees Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s semifinal spot as they finished first in the six-team standings with 12 points after 10 games.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s openers Farhan and Rehan Afridi gave their team a strong 71-run start after being given the opportunity to bat. Rehan, a wicketkeeper-batter, was the first to enter the pavilion after hitting 34 points from 25 balls, including six boundaries.

Kamran Ghulam (26, 21, one four, one six) joined Farhan, and the two of them combined for a 64-run partnership for the second wicket. With 61 balls remaining, Farhan kept playing strokes at will and reached his century, which included seven fours and six enormous sixes.

The defending champions were able to add only seven runs in the last over to reach 175 for the loss of three wickets in their allowed 20 overs after right-handed Farhan was dismissed for 102 in the 19th over. With two for 34, veteran Junaid Khan was Balochistan’s preferred bowler.

Balochistan needed to win by chasing 176, but they kept losing wickets and were eventually bowled out for 137 in the 17th over. As the number five batter, Haris Sohail top-scored with a 30-ball 47 that included five fours and two sixes.

Khalid Usman, the captain of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and right-arm leg spinner Maaz Khan each claimed three wickets. For a total of 20 runs, Mohammad Abbas Afridi took two wickets.

The tournament’s 30th and final group encounter will be played later this evening when Northern Punjab faces Southern Punjab.
