Asian nations dominated the FIFA World Cup, which was held for the second time in Asia after being staged for the first time in the Middle East and Arab world, as well as off the field.

The biggest football tournament was unquestionably an Asian event with three teams from the continent making it to the knockout stage, which was a record in and of itself, as well as throngs of Asian spectators travelling to Qatar to watch the action on the field.

The president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, praised the AFC’s member countries for the growth of football in each of their home nations.

The AFC President also took an opportunity to highlight the historical accomplishments of the AFC’s teams at the international competition, which will be remembered for the way Asian sides pulled off some of the most amazing comebacks in recent memory against the sport’s established heavyweights.

“Asia has three teams in the knockout stage for the first time in the annals of football, and the AFC’s Member Associations deserve all the credit for increasing the calibre of Asian football. Our current responsibility is to concentrate on maintaining this positive momentum over the next four years.”

In addition, Shaikh Salman praised Qatar for holding one of the most enduring football championships in recent memory, which came to an end on Sunday, and for its exceptional hosting talents.

“Our collective ambitions, as emphasised in the AFC’s vision and mission, were for our Asian teams and match officials to create the performance of a lifetime before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and I am very thrilled with their exceptional efforts,” the AFC president said. Shaikh Salman congratulated the eventual champions Argentina and expressed his appreciation to FIFA, the Qatar Football Association, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy of Qatar, and the Qatari government.

The FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 was a stunning sight that once again demonstrated the ability of the “beautiful game” to move and unify people from all walks of life. The AFC President congratulated Argentina on winning the coveted trophy.

“I must offer my sincere gratitude to the Qatar Football Association, the Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the Qatari government, and FIFA for writing a new chapter in the history of world football — a really wonderful celebration that will be treasured in the decades to come”

“A stage like no other was offered by Qatar. I’m encouraged to see that Asia and Qatar kept their end of the bargain after we proved to the world that this was indeed Asia’s time. Now that the torch has been passed, Canada, Mexico, and the United States will continue to build on the strong foundations set by Qatar “Added Shaikh Salman.
