Mickey Arthur, the former head coach of the Pakistan cricket board, describes the golden era of Pakistan cricket. During this time, Pakistan won the Champions Trophy.

Najam Sethi, the recently appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), wants to hire international coaches for the Pakistani cricket squad.

Najam Sethi recently announced that the destiny of the existing coaching team led by Saqlain Mushtaq would be decided at the next meeting.

When asked by the media in Lahore, Sethi responded, “We will decide upon Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf in an internal meeting tomorrow.”

The local cricketers would be in charge of various aspects of the PCB, but they will not be a part of the team’s coaching staff, the PCB Chairman clarified.

While Mickey Arthur was the national team’s head coach, Sethi called it “the golden era,” a time of unparalleled success.

“We were world number one in both ODI and Test cricket and we also won the Champions Trophy,” Najam Sethi said.

According to the PCB chief, “they will not do nepotism and favoritism while the local will do,” which is why they are hiring international coaches rather than selecting them internally.

It’s worth recalling that after England swept Pakistan in the Test series, the current coaching staff, including head coach Saqlain Mushtaq, came under heavy criticism.

Najam Sethi, who assumed leadership of the PCB last week, has already made significant changes, including disbanding the board’s selection committee.
