After helping Argentina win the World Cup, Alexis Mac Allister claims he has no plans to leave Brighton.

After two weeks in Argentina celebrating their thrilling World Cup final penalty shootout triumph over France in Qatar, Mac Allister returned to his Premier League club.

The 24-year-old shone during the World Cup and became Brighton’s first-ever champion.

Now that the transfer window is open, rumors surrounding Mac Allister’s future are intensifying, with links to Arsenal and Chelsea.

Mac Allister signed a new deal with Brighton in October, committing his career to the club until 2025, and he is content on the south coast.

“I try not to read too much. I always say I am happy here, I don’t have any rush to leave,” Mac Allister told AlbionTV.

“I feel really good, I’m really grateful with this club, my team-mates and all the people who work here. I’m just focused on the next game and this club.

“It was a good World Cup for this club and for the players who went to the World Cup. We know we’ve got a good team with really good players. This is a tough league, it will be hard, but we will try to finish as high as we can.”

Paul Barber, the chief executive officer of Brighton, acknowledges that there will be interest in the midfielder in January, but he will not entertain offers.

However, Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi believes that Mac Allister should finish the season with the Seagulls.

Mac Allister has been advised by De Zerbi to focus on the remainder of the Premier League season.

“I am happy if he wants to stay with us until the end of the season and I think it is better for him,” De Zerbi said.

“For us, for sure, but also for him because in this moment changing team in January can be a problem for him. For us, but also for him.”
